Taking in the scenery sipping a glass of wine,
As the train hurries quite expeditiously along a northward beeline.
What pleasures will await as I reach my destination,
Perhaps an old friend might greet me as alight from the carriage,
And step gingerly onto the platform at Edinburgh station.
Settling in for the night alone in my hotel room,
Telephone calls and memories recalled with friends I’ll be seeing again soon.
Morning has broken it’s time to go,
Back to the station boarding a train I sit down comfortably by the window.
Until I return again someday to the town I often call mine,
the train begins to pull briskly out of the station I take a small sip from my glass of wine.
I begin the long journey home again on a long and winding northward beeline.
